BENGALURU: In a shocking incident, a robbery gang stole Rs 7 crore that was being transported to refill ATM machines. The incident took place in Bengaluru in broad daylight. The gang robbed the money by posing as central government officials.

According to police, the cash van, carrying money from HDFC Bank’s JP Nagar branch, was intercepted by a group of men near Ashoka Pillar. Posing as officials from the Income Tax Department, the suspects approached the van staff and claimed they needed to verify documents related to the cash being transported. Before the staff could react or communicate with anyone, the gang swiftly offloaded the bags of cash into their own vehicle and fled the scene.

Following a complaint filed by the van staff, the South Division Police have formed a special team to track down the culprits. Initial investigations suggest the involvement of a well-organised, highly coordinated robbery gang.
