PATHANAMTHITTA: A serious lapse was noticed in the delivery of honey for offerings in Sabarimala. It was found that the company given the contract delivered the honey in containers supplying formic acid. This was noticed by the devaswom vigilance. The honey was not used following the vigilance report. It has been found that the food safety lab in Pampa failed to conduct the inspection.

Public sector undertaking RAIDCO distributes honey in Sabarimala. Honey from old stock is used for poojas including abhishekam. The vigilance has found a serious lapse from the side of the research officer of the food safety lab in Pampa. Food items are brought to Sannidhanam after an inspection at the food safety lab in Pampa. Sabarimala executive officer O G Baiju told media that a show-cause notice has been sent to RAIDCO after the vigilance's findings were confirmed. He also informed that further action will be taken after getting the reply. More inspections will be conducted on the containers. A search by the vigilance was conducted last week. Only the preliminary report has been given now.
