Holiday for few educational institutions in Thiruvananthapuram today; district collector issues order

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In connection with the local body elections, educational institutions, including those functioning as polling stations and distribution reception centres, will remain shut today (08/12/2025). District Collector Anukumari declared the holiday on the instructions of the Election Commission.

The holiday will apply to all institutions in Mar Ivanios Vidyanagar, which is the distribution reception centre. However, the collector announced that the holiday will not be applicable to the exams scheduled. The collector announced that educational institutions, including those functioning as vote-counting centres, will be closed on December 13, the day of the vote counting. The collector also declared a public holiday in the district on the 9th, the polling day.
