GUWAHATI: India is a land of diverse festivals and celebrations. However, many have long argued that women are often sidelined during these events. In most celebrations, the majority of women remain spectators, watching from a distance. Even during temple festivals and public stage programs, very few women feel safe enough to step into the crowd and dance. The main reason is the harassment women often face in crowded spaces.

Now, a British travel influencer has openly stated that women are not safe at public events in India. Emma, a Bangkok-based content creator with a large social media following, shared her concern after an unpleasant experience during American rapper Post Malone’s concert in Guwahati. She posted on social media about the incident involving her and her friend.

Emma shared the post with the caption: 'Events in India are not safe for women.' She said the concert was very crowded and someone touched her and her friend Amina inappropriately without consent. They felt unsafe and had to leave the venue within just ten minutes, which meant they couldn’t enjoy the concert at all.

Emma also shared a video showing the dense crowd at the event.

'This is not just the usual pushing that happens in crowded places. This is part of a much bigger issue where harassment of women in public spaces is ignored or considered normal. Women should never have to choose between enjoying an event and protecting their bodies,' Emma wrote below the video.
