KOCHI: Shattering the prosecution's hope of a plot twist, the trial court rejected the 'selfie' presented as the most pivotal evidence in the actress assault case. The selfie captured by a fan with actor Dileep also showed Pulsar Suni at the location of the movie 'Georgettan’s Pooram'. The location was at the Kinattingal Tennis & Sports Academy in Thrissur. The photo was taken by a security guard here.
The investigation found that Suni had arrived here on November 11, 2016. The picture was presented as evidence of the last meeting between Dileep and Suni. The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court ruled that although it was acceptable to argue their presence, the photo alone cannot be evidence of a conspiracy.
The allegation was that a conspiracy took place behind the caravan at the tennis club and in the indoor stadium. However, the court verdict states that there are no eyewitnesses to the fact that Suni spoke to Dileep during the busy shooting schedule.
The witness had shown the place where each of them stood for the selfie, but the investigation team did not mark it, resulting in a setback.
The prosecution argues that Dileep and Suni became friends at the location of the movie "Sound Thoma" in Alappuzha in 2013. Suni was actor Mukesh's driver at the time. When some goons created a ruckus at the location, Suni intervened and stopped them. This is said to have impressed Dileep, who soon hit a rapport with Suni. However, the investigative officer in court gave a contradictory statement that the issue at ‘Sound Thoma’ was solved at the intervention of the police.
