THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP City District President Karamana Jayan said that the state government’s attempt to urgently transfer Rs 200 crore from the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation’s own fund to the treasury is part of a conspiracy to push the new governing council into an administrative crisis.

According to Karamana Jayan, the move is being made at a time when the term of the previous council ended on November 11, and the new council has not yet come into office. In this situation, the Additional Chief Secretary has sent a letter only to the municipal secretary to carry out the fund transfer.

"The state government and the CPM, which leads it, have a history of not returning money transferred from local self-government institutions. The hurried attempt to move funds is the first step in an effort to weaken the functioning of the BJP-led council that is about to take charge of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The BJP will resist this move," Karamana Jayan said.
