Bank manager dies after collapsing during marathon in Thiruvananthapuram

KULATHOOR: In a tragic incident, a person who participated in the marathon organised by SBI collapsed and died on Sunday. Aashiq (46) of ‘Aashiyana Manzil’ VRA-130, Kanjirampara Mannamoola Vivekananda Lane in Thiruvananthapuram, died in the incident.

The incident took place near Valiaveli Church at around 7 am on Sunday. Aashiq, who collapsed while running, was immediately taken to the hospital, but his life could not be saved. The marathon organised by SBI started from Shanghumukham on Sunday morning.

Aashiq, who participated in the 21 km marathon, collapsed on the road after completing just 6 km. Aashiq is a frequent presence in all marathon competitions and is very active in cycling, football and cricket. He was a senior manager of HDFC Bank in Kollam.

Aashiq leaves behind his wife, Majitha, a teacher at Beemapally School. Amal (B.Tech) and Ashima (Plus One) are his children. The funeral will be held at Palayam Church today at 10.30 am.
