THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ward councillor R. Sreelekha asked Vattiyoorkavu MLA V K Prasanth to vacate the MLA office in the corporation building in Sasthamangalam. The councillor's office is also in the same building. In a phone conversation, Sreelekha requested the MLA to vacate the office, saying that there was insufficient space in the councillor's office and she preferred the building space to run her office conveniently.

Prasanth was contacted by phone around 9 am yesterday. Prasanth's office is being rented here as per the council's decision following the application submitted to the municipality. Prasanth has been using the same office for seven years. The rental agreement is valid until next March. The agreement is with the municipality secretary. If the building needs to be vacated, the council must make a decision, and the secretary must give notice. Otherwise, the lease may not be renewed when the term expires. It is expected that the procedure takes time. Before that, Sreelekha directly asked the MLA to vacate the building.

However, if the BJP-dominated council decides to cancel the contract, the MLA will have to vacate the office. If the councillor wants an office in the corporation building, permission must be granted through the Mayor.
