THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Blasters captain Adrian Luna will play for a foreign club this season as the ISL football tournament impasse continues. On Thursday, Kerala Blasters announced Luna’s loan move to a foreign club for a year. However, Blasters did not specify which club Luna was transferred to. The financial details of the transfer were also not announced. There are indications that Luna has switched to a club in Indonesia. Luna, a Uruguayan national, has a contract with the Blasters until May 31, 2027.
The fact that ISL, usually scheduled to start in early October, is getting delayed even after three months is something to worry about. Clubs are bound to pay foreign players even if they do not play. In this situation, the Blasters decided it would be better to loan out their captain. Many other clubs are also trying to get rid of their key players on a loan basis.
Luna has been a pillar of strength for Kerala Blasters in the last five seasons. He has played in 87 matches for the club. Luna is the only foreign player with the most matches for the club. He is the second-highest scorer of the club with 15 goals and 27 assists.
