Jagathy Sreekumar at 75: 'Complete actor' of Mollywood

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Legendary Malayalam actor and humour virtuoso Jagathy Sreekumar turns 75 today. As usual, Jagathy Sreekumar will spend his birthday with family, with a modest cake-cutting celebration. Although retired from the film industry after the fatal accident in 2012, Malayalees still revere the great actor for his unparalleled contribution to the cinema industry.

In a 'Q and A' session in which Mohanlal participated on X last year, when asked to describe Jagathy, Mohanlal chose the caption 'Complete Actor'.

After the accident, Jagathy acted only in a few commercials and in Mammootty's CBI 5. Apart from the physical limitations caused by the accident, the actor is healthy. He watches films, reads newspapers and participates in public programs. Last month, Jagathy arrived at the stage celebrating the 50th anniversary of his friend Balachandra Menon's film career. He occasionally recognises acquaintances who come to his house and listens to what they say. Many of his friends make video calls to find out about his well-being.

On another note, Jagathy Sreekumar will act in a new movie that has Aju Varghese playing the lead role. The shooting is expected to begin soon.
