HYDERABAD: The father of Indian woman Nikitha Godishala, who was killed in the United States, has denied allegations that his daughter was involved in a romantic relationship with the suspect, Arjun Sharma. He claimed that the murder was a result of a dispute related to money. He made these statements while speaking to the media in Hyderabad amid various rumours surrounding his daughter's death.
"My daughter went to Columbia four years ago. She was working there, and he was her former roommate. He was not her boyfriend," he said. He added that four people were living together in one house and that the incident happened after Nikitha asked Arjun to return the money she had spent. He alleged that Arjun killed Nikitha and then fled to India.
Meanwhile, Arjun Sharma, who is accused of killing the young woman and escaping to India, was arrested in Tamil Nadu. Police took him into custody with the help of Interpol. Nikitha Godishala, who worked as a data analyst in the US, was found dead on January 3 at Arjun Sharma’s apartment in Maryland.
Injuries from stab wounds were found on her body. Arjun Sharma had filed a missing person complaint on January 1, stating that he had last seen Nikitha at his apartment on New Year's Eve. However, he left for India the day after filing the complaint. Police grew suspicious and, during a search of his apartment, found Nikitha dead.
