THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is no room for error as Congress prepares intensively for the crucial assembly elections in Kerala. The leaders parted ways after the leadership camp in Wayanad, promising to meet again after the 'victory' in the assembly polls. This sudden unity among Congress leaders has revived enthusiasm among allies of the UDF. The aim is to make the party more united through constant contact with the workers until the announcement of the assembly elections is made.
The decision has been made to complete the seat sharing at the earliest and announce all the candidates before February 15. The KPCC leadership believes that this message of unity has been conveyed to ordinary workers and supporters. The activities are planned in three regions of the state.
A meeting of Congress representatives elected to local bodies will be held in Kochi on the 19th. Rahul Gandhi will participate in it. There will be a day and night strike in front of Lok Bhavan on the 13th and 14th of this month to protest the steps taken by the Centre regarding the employment guarantee scheme. An assembly march will be held on the 20th demanding the arrest of all the accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case. These are also programs to rejuvenate the vigour among the workers of the party. The front will become more active with the march led by Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan on February 6.
200 members, including KPCC office bearers, executive members, political affairs committee members, core committee members, presidents of recognised feeder organisations, and DCC presidents, attended the Wayanad camp. It was also noteworthy that MP Shashi Tharoor, who seemed to be at odds with the party leadership on various issues, attended the meeting for both days.
