Even though there is SK with Sudha Kongara Prasad directorial Parasakthi and Karthi- Nalan Kumarasamy combo's Vaa Vaathiyaar on one side, it is clear that Actor Jeeva is the one who has lifted the Pongal Cup.

Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil is a lottery for Jeeva, who had not had any hits in her career for a long time. It is reported that Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil has already recovered its making cost.

Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil is performing well after its release, showing strong initial performance with ₹9.90 Cr India net over three days (Day 1: ₹1.5 Cr, Day 2: ₹2.9 Cr, Day 3: ₹5.5 Cr) and a solid Day 4 earning of ₹3.51 Cr. This brings the total collection to ₹13.41 Cr. This is already a profit of more than three crores, as Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil was made at a budget of ten crores.

Since Vijay's Jana Nayagan did not release as planned, the TTT team decided to make good use of the gap and release the film on January 15th. Since there were few big heroes in the Pongal competition, it must be said that this decision is in Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil's favour.

While Parasakthi benefited from high-budget appeal and Vaa Vaathiyaar from Karthi's star power, Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil surpassed them in popularity, driven by audiences preferring its content-driven humour.

The story of this film revolves around a village. The director has told it as a lively comedy-drama, encompassing politics, ego clashes, and minor problems surrounding a wedding that is to take place in the village.

Jeeva plays the role of a village panchayat president. The story revolves around the confusion that arises when a marriage is used as an opportunity to 'buy a good name' in the context of the upcoming elections. Along with laughter, social satire is also spread throughout the film.

Malayali touch

Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil is directed by Malayalam director Nithish Sahadev, who is known for Basil Joseph's film Falimy. The film clearly shows the natural storytelling and slow but interesting screenplay that are typical of Malayalam cinema. Many people are of the opinion that even though it is in the same style that Tamil fans are used to, it gives a new feel.
