KOZHIKODE: The police issued a lookout notice for Shimjitha Mustafa, an accused in the case of Kozhikode native Deepak’s suicide. The police had registered a case against the woman on charges of abetment to suicide on the complaint of Deepak’s mother. The police took action following information that Shimjitha, a native of Vadakara, was planning to leave the country. The woman has been charged with a section that carries a maximum imprisonment of ten years and a fine.

Shimjitha had previously worked abroad. The police received information the other day that Shimjitha had left the state and gone to Manguluru. The accused's phone was switched off. The police are in the process of recording the statements of more people in the incident. The private bus employees said that they came to know about the incident only after the video shared by Shimjitha went viral across social media. However, they said that the CCTV visuals from the bus did not indicate any sexual misconduct.

The phone on which Shimjitha recorded the footage will be taken into custody. The police have collected the footage shared by the woman on social media. They have also sought the help of the cyber police to collect the information from the woman's Instagram account. Shimjitha had deleted her Instagram and Facebook accounts after criticism intensified on social media.
