MUHAMMA: A Malayali student collapsed and died in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the other day. Kavungal native Ashwin Babu (25), son of K.N. Prasanna Babu, died on Saturday evening. He was a final year MBBS student at Tashkent State Medical University in Uzbekistan.

While talking to a friend on the phone, Ashwin suddenly collapsed and hit his head on the floor. Classmates immediately administered first aid and took him to the hospital, but his life could not be saved.

Back in 2022, Ashwin was a second-year student at Zaporizhzhia State Medical University in Ukraine. Ashwin returned to Kerala after enduring great hardships in the war-torn country. Even his return to India was well-reported by the media. To resume his course, Ashwin then moved to a university in Tashkent.

Prasanna Babu is a retired sub-engineer from KSEB Muhamma Section. Mother: Bindu (retd. Head Nurse, Alappuzha General Hospital). Sister: Aswathi Babu (postgraduate law student in the UK). The body will be brought home on Monday evening after completing the formalities. The funeral will be held later in the house compound.
