Has three BHK flat, but family of nine slept in one room, more information emerges on death of three sisters in Ghaziabad

NEW DELHI: More information emerged in the suicides of three sisters in Ghaziabad that shocked the country. Pakhi (12), Prachi (14) and Nishika (16) jumped to their deaths from the ninth floor of their flat in Bharat City, a residential township in Ghaziabad. Reports say family issues and selling their mobile phones led them to take the drastic step. The statements of the girls’ father Chetan Kumar is contradictory. He has been changing his statements.

The family consists of Chetan Kumar, his wives Sujata, Hina and Tina and their five children. Nishika is daughter of Kumar and Sujata. Pakhi and Prachi are Hina’s daughters. Police said though they have three bedrooms in their flat, the family used to sleep in one room.

Chetan told police that as Sujata was not able to conceive, he married her sister Hina. However, the child’s age proves this statement to be false. He married Sujata in 2010. Nishika born to them is 16. He married her sister Hina in 2012.

He married his third wife Tina in 2023 after converting her to Hinduism from Islam. They have a three-year-old daughter. The phones of the daughters, one sold 15 days before the incident, have been traced and sent for forensic analysis to determine what happened in the final hours. The investigation team is trying to find out whether the girls used Korean love games that give tasks.

Sister of Sujata and Hina, had fallen off the balcony of the house while visiting them in 2018, in a similar manner. The family never filed any police complaint. Police said Chetan Kumar, who works as a stockbroker, has a debt of Rs 2 crore. He sold his daughters mobile phones to pay the electricity bill.
