'Suffered Rs 25 lakh loss due to Biju Menon'; Movie producer takes legal action against actor

KOCHI: Producer Anoop Kannan said that he would initiate legal action against actor Biju Menon for not participating in film promotions despite signing a contract for the same. Anoop also said that the Producers Association assured strong action against the actor.

“We incurred a loss of Rs 25 lakh. Biju Menon participated in only three hours of promotional events. The actor had agreed to come for the promotion.” Anoop Kannan said that he tried to contact Biju, but to no avail.

FEFKA General Secretary and film director B Unnikrishnan also came against Biju Menon the other day for skipping the promotional events. Unnikrishnan said that Biju Menon’s lack of professionalism resulted in the producer incurring a loss of Rs 25 lakhs.

“It is said that Biju Menon also skipped the promotion events of the movie 'Valathuvashathe Kallan' directed by Jeethu Joseph. It is not right to flout rules after signing a contract. The shooting of movies continues beyond the stipulated time due to the lapses of the actors. The new contract will change this.” B. Unnikrishnan also said that those actors with remuneration of over Rs one lakh will have to sign the contract.
