Mammootty is one of the most favourite actors of Malayalis. The veteran actor, who had stayed away from cinema for about a year due to health issues, has now become active again in the film industry. In a recent function, Mammootty opened up about the health challenges he faced. The actor shared his experience after inaugurating Kathodu Kathoram, a free cochlear implantation project implemented in collaboration with Rajagiri Hospital.
"Sight and hearing are the most essential for humans. Breathing is also vital. Even without smell, we breathe. I had no sense of taste or smell for a long time. It's only now that it's starting to return. Hearing is a blessing. Many lack it. This project is for them. Doing good, encouraging those who do good, and opposing evil- these are the greatest things we can do on earth," said Mammootty.
Mammootty noted that sound is unfamiliar to those without hearing ability. He shared an experience from a film shoot where he bought a hearing aid for someone without hearing.
"He used the hearing aid briefly, then removed it. The reason: he had never experienced sound before. It pushed him into a terrifying state. He never used it again," Mammootty added.
