KOCHI: Efforts are underway to rescue the cat that has been stuck in a Metro pillar for a week. The fire force and the animal rescue team are jointly carrying out the rescue operation. Auto drivers in the area have named the cat Subhash, in reference to the movie Manjummel Boys.

After noticing that the cat was stuck in the pillar, the rescue team first checked near pillar 385 but could not find it. The authorities initially decided to turn off the power line at night after the metro services ended and carry out the rescue operation. However, the demand for an immediate rescue operation was intensified after the visuals of the cat lying tired in a corner on top of the pillar came out this morning. The rescue operation is being carried out using a hydraulic lift. The attempt is to save the cat after temporarily suspending the metro service and turning off the power line.
