ROME: Police have fined a man for allegedly training his pet dog to dump garbage while avoiding the watch of security cameras. The incident took place in Sicily, Italy. The Catania municipal police released video footage showing a small dog carrying a bag of waste in its mouth and leaving it on the street.

Authorities became suspicious after noticing more than one video showing the dog dumping garbage in a similar manner. Officials said the owner trained the dog to do this to avoid being caught on security cameras while disposing of waste illegally.

Illegal dumping of garbage has increased in Catania after the introduction of door-to-door waste collection. Under the new system, different types of waste are collected on different days, which requires people to separate and store their garbage.
