AHMEDABAD: India was provided with a dream start by the opening duo in the T20 World Cup final. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma smashed every possible ball across the boundary, scoring 92 runs in six overs of the powerplay. After 14 overs, the team's score surpassed 200. Breaking his poor form, Abhishek Sharma was the most attacking player in the final. The Indian opener needed just 18 balls to reach his half-century.
Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 52 runs off 21 balls, with three sixes and six fours. Malayali wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, unstoppable in his current form, scored 89 runs before getting dismissed. Captain Suryakumar Yadav returned to the pavilion after getting out on the first ball he faced.
Sanju Samson became only the third player in history to score a half-century in both the semi-finals and final of the World Cup. He scored an unbeaten 97 against the West Indies in the final match of the Super Eights and also scored 89 against England in the semi-finals.
