'She is facing election by selling her eloquence and physical beauty'; UDF leader against U Pratibha

ALAPPPUZHA: A UDF leader made misogynistic remarks against LDF candidate U Prathibha in Kayamkulam. The remark was that she is facing election with her eloquence and physical beauty without doing any development work. UDF constituency convener and League leader Irshad Chakkalassery made the misogynistic remarks at the UDF convention held yesterday.

‘When the reality stands that she has not been able to do anything as a public representative, Irshad Chakkalasheri made a controversial remark saying that she is once again facing elections by putting her eloquence and physical beauty up for sale. The UDF leader also referred in his speech about the cannabis case involving U Prathibha’s son. Irshad made the misogynistic remark when leaders including the DCC president were on the dais. CPM leaders have stepped forward against this.

Kayamkulam is set to witness a strong triangular contest. While sitting MLA U Prathibha is aiming for a hat-trick victory, the Congress has fielded KPCC Vice President M Liju to regain the constituency. In a constituency where the BJP also holds significant influence along with the two fronts, BDJS candidate Thambi Mettuthara, representing the NDA, is also in the fray. Kayamkulam, which gave a big-margin victory to Left Front candidate U Prathibha in the 2016 election, remained with her in 2021 as well.
