‘My favorite thing is to take the oil in Iran’, US to seize Kharg Island, says Trump

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has hinted that the US will seize Iran's main oil export hub, Kharg Island, and take the oil in Iran. Trump also pointed that the priority will be to take the oil.

‘My favorite thing is to take the oil in Iran. Maybe we'll seize the Kharg Island. We have a lot of options. We might have to stay there for a while. I don't think they have any defenses. We can easily take the oil.

We have about 3,000 targets left, 13,000 have been bombed. We can make a deal very quickly. As a gift, Iran has allowed more oil ships with Pakistani flags to go through the Strait of Hormuz,’ Trump told a media.

Kharg is located 16 miles off the coast of Iran, at the northern tip of the Gulf, about 300 miles northwest of the Strait of Hormuz. This island handles 90 percent of Iran's oil exports. Political observers point out that seizing the island could disrupt Iran's energy trade and put a lot of pressure on its economy.
