WASHINGTON: The United States has threatened to destroy the whole of Iran if a peace deal is not reached within the next 48 hours. Trump had earlier announced on social media that he would attack Iran at 8 pm local time on Tuesday. Trump's threat is to attack infrastructure that is vital to Iranian citizens.

‘We will destroy the entire country. They have a good chance, but if they don't reach a deal, I will destroy everything there. Iran is destroyed. It's getting worse day by day. They will have to build new bridges and power plants every day. There is no other country that has been hit like this,’ said Trump.

Trump also hinted that the Iranian people support the war. ‘The Iranian people are living in fear. They are afraid that the war will be stopped halfway, but we will not go,’ Trump said in interviews with the media.

Meanwhile, an airstrike in the southwest of Iran's capital Tehran early this morning killed 13 people, destroying a residential complex. Neither the United States nor Israel has claimed responsibility for the attack. There was also an attack on Tehran's Sharif University of Technology. The attack came after Trump threatened to open the Strait of Hormuz. Iran was warned yesterday in foul language. Trump had threatened on social media that if the Strait of Hormuz was not opened tomorrow, he would destroy Iran's power plants and bridges.
