"I did it because I love her": Fan defends forced kiss on Manju Warrier as Social Media fumes

The line between admiration and intrusion is often blurred, and for Malayalam superstar Manju Warrier, a recent public appearance highlighted the difficulties stars face when fan enthusiasm turns excessive. Although the incident occurred on March 15 during a jewellery showroom inauguration in Palakkad, footage of the encounter only recently went viral, igniting a heated debate on social media about celebrity safety and personal boundaries.

While Manju was on an open stage designed for fan interaction, an unidentified woman suddenly rushed toward her. In an unexpected breach of personal space, the fan hugged the actress and kissed her without consent. The program's presenter, Meera Anil, and the organising staff were seen struggling to intervene before bouncers quickly stepped in to escort the woman away.

As she was being removed, the woman shouted to the crowd, "I love Manju Chechi; that’s why I kissed her." Despite the shock of the unauthorised physical contact, Manju Warrier maintained remarkable restraint. Demonstrating her trademark grace, she even consoled the emotional fan and continued to interact with the rest of the audience, refusing to let the incident ruin the experience for others.

However, the public response has been far less forgiving. Many social media users have condemned the fan's actions, labelling the event a "major security lapse" and calling for stricter protocols at public functions. Critics argue that "affection" is no excuse for violating a person's physical autonomy and that authorities must take firm action against those who touch celebrities without permission during public appearances.
