PALAKKAD: AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal MP demanded that the Election Commission take strict action after Congress released footage of BJP workers allegedly distributing money to voters.
“Giving money to influence voters is a very serious violation of election rules. What is the Election Commission doing despite the BJP openly distributing money in Palakkad? BJP's money laundering is now spreading all over Kerala. They are trying to sabotage elections.” K.C. Venugopal added that the trend is seen across BJP's A-class constituencies.
“Where is the Election Commission in Kerala? Only the UDF has complied with the Election Commission's directive that there should be no election advertisements on TV and online on the silent campaign day. Advertisements of the LDF and BJP are still appearing on TV and online. What is the Election Commission doing in this regard?”
KC Venugopal reiterated the allegation that CPM was involved in making fake identity cards in Kannur and Kasaragod to cast fake votes. “Fake cards were printed in many places in Kannur district and in Cheemeni in the wee hours of the night.” KC Venugopal said that they have received information about this from within the CPM itself and have informed the Election Commission.
