NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will take over leadership responsibilities in party’s important events in the absence of party president Amit Shah, reports say. He will lead the BJP pad yatra in West Bengal if party president Amit Shah fails to reach Malda on January 20. Shah, who was diagnosed with swine flu, is currently admitted in AIIMS Delhi. BJP central leadership expects Amit Shah to be discharged in two days.
BJP had decided to start its election campaign in West Bengal with a series of rallies beginning with a public rally on January 20. Amit Shah was supposed to conduct a rally following Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s mega show. But Shah was hospitalized following physical discomforts.
The BJP had planned 'rath yatras' touching all Lok Sabha constituencies in the state to boost its chances in the national elections. However, it was denied permission by the state government and has since been caught in legal tangles. However there are no restrictions for conducting public functions.
