Kamal Hassan loses battle in Coimbatore South, lost to the BJP candidate by 1500 votes

CHENNAI: Kamal Haasan, actor and leader of Makkal Needhi Maiam, was defeated in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore South constituency at the end of counting of the votes polled in the Assembly election. The actor was defeated by BJP's Vanathi Srinivasan by a majority of 1500 votes.

Meanwhile, the DMK won a landslide victory with a simple majority in Tamil Nadu. It won 158 of the 234 seats. The party will be returning to power after a gap of 10 years.
