PM to assess situation in states including Kerala where transmission of Covid is severe; calls chief ministers meet on July 16

NEW DELHI: The Prime Minister called a meeting of the chief ministers to discuss the Covid situation. The meeting will be held on July 16 at 11 am via video conference. The chief ministers of states where the transmission of Covid is high have been invited for the meeting.

The Chief Ministers of Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have been invited. Maharashtra and Kerala are the states where the transmission of Covid is still rampant in the country. The number of Covid cases per day in Kerala is over ten thousand and the test positivity rate is above ten.

In Maharashtra too, there is an increase in Covid cases. Considering this, the centre had sent a team of experts to the states having more Covid cases to assess the situation.

The Prime Minister held discussions with the chief ministers of the north eastern states to assess the Covid situation. He warned of a third wave of infections if not followed the basic rules.
