Vismaya committed suicide following dowry harassment, 500-page charge sheet to be submitted soon

KOLLAM: The death of Vismaya is a suicide, said Kollam Rural SP K B Ravi. However, he said it is clear that the suicide was due to constant dowry harassment. With detailed evidence will submit the charge sheet in the court on World Suicide Prevention Day and is happy about it, said the SP.

There are 102 witnesses in the case, 56 mainour and 92 records. Digital evidences were also accurately noticed. The 500-page charge sheet is flawless. Apart from Vismaya's friends and relatives, the list of witnesses also includes doctors and forensic experts who performed the post-mortem.

Vismaya was found hanging in the bathroom of her husband's house at Poruvazhi in Kollam on June 21. Her parents on the same day alleged that Vismaya's death was due to dowry harassment.

Following that, Vismaya's husband Kiran Kumar, assistant motor vehicle inspector, was arrested in the case. Her relatives said that Kiran had constantly harassed Vismaya in the name of dowry. Kiran was later terminated from government service. The government later avowed that Kiran would no longer get pensions, benefits or any other government jobs. The charge sheet was filed 90 days before by the police to prevent the accused Kiran Kumar from being released on natural bail.
