THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The review meeting held today decided to open cinema theaters from the 25th of this month as part of Covid concessions. Theaters will be open as per Covid norms. Employees and audiences should receive two doses of the vaccine. Admission will be for 50 percent of the capacity. Indications are that a full opening is not possible. The government will issue guidelines in consultation with film organizations. Cinema theaters are opening in the state after about six months.
Following the opening of the theaters, discussions about the upcoming films have become active. Several films are awaiting theatrical release. Fans are waiting for the release date of Mohanlal - Priyadarshan's big budget movie Marakkar-Arabikkadalinte Simham.
But producer Antony Perumbavoor has hinted that the movie will not be in theaters soon. Antony Perumbavoor said that Marakkar will not be released soon as allowing only half the theatre hall capacity will affect the collection of the film. The decision was made to release the film only after the theaters are fully operational.
Marakkar is the most expensive movie in Malayalam. Though ready for release, the closure of theaters following Covid was a major setback. Following this, the release was delayed. Earlier it was made clear that the film will not be released through OTT.
The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor, Santosh T Kuruvila and Roy CJ under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. Sunil Shetty, Prabhu, Manju Warrier and Keerthi Suresh will play other important roles.
Nivin Pauly- Rajeev Ravi movie 'Thuramugham' is another movie set to be released. No release has been announced. Director Vineeth Sreenivasan had earlier announced that Hridayam, starring Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyani Priyadarshan, will be released in theaters.
