THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Agriculture Minister P Prasad has said that Rs 200 crore worth of crops were damaged due to heavy rains in the state. Of this, a loss of Rs 18 crore was incurred in Kuttanad alone. The minister also said that a special agricultural package would be sought from the central government as a solution for the crop damage.

"Several farms and agricultural areas were destroyed in the disaster-hit areas. At present we cannot make an accurate estimate of the loss incurred in these regions. Authorities have been directed to estimate and report the extent of damage after the rains subside," the minister said.
