Woman disguised as man abducts Plus One student, gets arrested

MAVELIKKARA: A woman was arrested for abducting a minor girl after disguising herself as a man. Sandhya (27), of Kripa Nilayam in Thiruvananthapuram's Veeranakavu was arrested on POCSO charges. Sandhya, who met the Plus One student from Mavelikkara through social media, called her out from the house a week ago. The two were taken into custody from Thrissur yesterday. The girl was released with her family.

Police said two POCSO cases have been registered against Sandhya in Kattakada station in 2016 for harassing 14-year-old girls. Sandhya is married and the mother of a child.

The accused was arrested by a team comprising Chengannur DySP Dr R Jose, Kurathikadu CI S Nizam, SI Baiju, senior civil police officer Noushad, civil police officers Unnikrishnan, Arun Bhaskar, Shafeeq and women civil police officers Swarna Rekha and Remya.
