568 crore infrastructure development in 29 colleges

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 568 crore infrastructure development has been completed in 29 government and aided colleges, said Higher education minister R Bindu in a news conference.

The colleges were upgraded under the RUSA scheme with funds from the Central and State Governments. This includes three government colleges and 26 aided colleges. The project is being implemented with 60 per cent funding from the Central Government and 40 per cent from the State Government.

The money was allocated to 122 institutions, including six universities. 568 crore is being spent in two phases. Out of this `227 crore is the share of the State Government. The inauguration of the completed works will be held at St. Mary's College, Thrissur on Feb 28 at 9.30 am, St. Joseph's College, Iringalakuda at 12 noon, KKTM College, Pullut at 2.30 pm and Carmel College, Mala at 3.30 pm.
