Civic Chandran gets anticipatory bail in case of sexually abusing writer

KOZHIKODE: The court has granted anticipatory bail to writer Civic Chandran in the case of sexually abusing a young writer. The bail was granted by the Kozhikode district court without any conditions. The complaint against Civic Chandran is that he abused the writer when she came to Kozhikode for a book release in last April.

The defence counsel argued that Civic Chandran is unable to walk without a walking stick. The woman's lawyers had argued that anticipatory bail should not be granted when there is a case under the Prevention of Attacks on Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act.

The documents of another woman's complaint against Civic Chandran were also produced in the court. He tried to sexually abuse her at Nandi Beach on February 18 in 2020.
