Historic feat for Malayalees in Commonwealth Games; Gold, silver for India in triple jump

BURMINGHAM: India's medal run continues in the Commonwealth Games. In triple jump, Malayalee athletes won the first two positions. Eldos Paul won gold and Abdullah Abubacker won silver.

Amit Panghal won gold in men's boxing. Panghal's achievement is in the 51 kg category. Amit defeated Kieran McDonald of England.

India's Nitu Gangas won gold in women's boxing. She defeated England's Demi Jade 5-0 in the 48 kg category.

PV Sindhu confirms medal in badminton women's singles. Sindhu assured the medal after defeating Singapore player Jia Min Yeo and entering the final. Sindhu's victory is 21-19, 21-17. She had previously won four medals in the Commonwealth Games.

The women's team won the bronze medal in hockey. The medal was won after defeating New Zealand in the final. Both teams were on a tie at 1-1 at the scheduled time. After losing to Australia in the semi-finals, India entered the competition for the bronze medal.
