MANJERI: A native of Palakkad on Monday reached the Thiruvananthapuram Lottery Director's office with the Rs 70 lakh-winning ticket of the Kerala Nirmal lottery that was stolen from Manjeri. Monday was the last day to submit tickets. As the police had given the information about the stolen ticket to the lottery office, the officials handed over the information to the police. The police took the person's statement. The police said that the ticket will be produced in court.

The resident of Palakkad told the police that he bought the ticket from a group who approached him saying that they are in urgent need of money. As per him, the group told him that their relative have won the first prize of the lottery but it will take six months to get the money from the bank. The ticket was bought by paying Rs 15 lakh. The police are investigating whether there is a relationship between the accused arrested in the ticket theft incident and the person who bought the ticket. The police have arrested eight people in connection with the incident. The ticket was stolen from a native of Pappinipara in Manjeri on September 15.
