GUWAHATI: Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Secretary Devjit Saikia has come up with a strange statement regarding a snake that came to the field during the second T20I match between India and South Africa. Saikia, despite being furious at the incident, joked that the snake was enjoying the match and wanted to get a good look at the players. As the snake slithered across the field during a match at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Assam and the match had to be stopped for some time. The match started after the snake was finally caught by the security personnel.
The snake entered the ground before the start of the eighth over of India's innings against South Africa on Sunday.
'I'm sure the snake was enjoying the match too, maybe it was an attempt to get a good look at the players, and the snake must have been very unhappy when one of our pitch curators caught him.', Saikia said.
In this match, along with the snake, the flood light went out for 15 minutes and the match had to be stopped again.
Assam hosted an international cricket match for the first time after three years.
