THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A ten-day special legislative session is planned to be held in December for the legislation of several bills. It includes the bills to remove the governor from the Chancellor post of universities and anti-superstition bill. Speaker AN Shamseer said that the government should take a decision in this regard.

A bill to remove Governor from the post of chancellor has been discussed as the governor-government conflict has intensified. Since each university has its own rules, each university rules needs to be amended to change the chancellor’s position.

Meanwhile, even if the legislature passes the bill, it becomes law only after the governor signs it. The governor is yet to sign a few bills passed by the last assembly session. There is also confusion in the government whether to have further issues with the governor who is at odds with the government.
