US midterm polls: Republican Party leading in House of Representatives, Maura Healey becomes first lesbian elected governor

WASHINGTON: As results of the midterm polls in the United States come out, Donald Trump's Republican Party is leading 137 seats in the 435-member House of Representatives. President Joe Biden's Democratic Party is leading only in 77 seats.

Ron DeSantis has been re-elected as Florida governor. Ron is considered to be the Republican Party's presidential candidate in the next election. Maura Healey of the Democratic Party was elected Governor of Massachusetts. Healey is the first lesbian governor in US history.


Meanwhile, Wes Moore was elected the first African-American governor in Maryland. Elections were held last day to elect 36 state governors, 435 members of the US House of Representatives and 35 members of the Senate.
