Five including woman killed in cracker factory fire in Madurai

CHENNAI: Five including a woman was killed in a fire that broke out in a cracker factory at Madurai in Tamil Nadu. Ten sustained serious injuries. The fire broke out in a private cracker factory near Usilambatti in Madurai. The incident happened Thursday afternoon at 2 pm.

Three buildings where gunpowder was stored have been completely destroyed in the fire. There were 15 workers in the buildings. Ammasi, Vallarasu, Gopi, Wikki and Prema are those dead.

The fire was doused by the fire force. The injured have been shifted to the hospital. The report said the rescue operations are progressing.
