HYDERABAD: Michael Bracewell's valiant century was in vain as India maintained composure to win the first match of the three-match series against New Zealand by 12 runs. Chasing 350, New Zealand were bowled out for 337 runs. Mohammed Siraj was the standout bowler, taking 4/46 in 10 overs. Kuldeep Yadav and Shardul took two wickets while Pandya and Shami got one.
Earlier, Team India managed to put up 349 runs on board, thanks to opener Shubman Gill's double ton. Gill scored 208 runs off 146 balls with 19 fours and 9 sixes. He also became the youngest player and the fifth Indian player to score a double century in ODIs. India scored 349 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 50 overs.
Skipper Rohit Sharma (34), Suryakumar Yadav (31) and Hardik Pandya (28) also played some valuable knocks. All-rounder Daryl Mitchell was the pick of the bowlers for Kiwis with 2/30. Henry Shipley took two wickets, while Lockie Ferguson, Blair Tickner and Mitchell Santner picked a wicket each.
