It's often advised to thoroughly wash fruits and vegetables bought from stores using turmeric water, vinegar, or other cleaning agents to remove surface germs and contaminants. But what about what's hidden inside them? A woman recently shared a shocking discovery she made while cutting a capsicum.
As usual, she was busy with her kitchen chores. After carefully washing the capsicum, she proceeded to cut it with a knife. To her shock, she found a live scorpion inside the vegetable. Started by the unexpected sight, she initially panicked but then decided to share the incident on Instagram.
The scorpion appeared lifeless at first. Thinking it was dead, she gently nudged it with the knife, only for it to start moving. Realising it was alive, she was alarmed. She posted the video as a warning to others, emphasising how dangerous and venomous the scorpion could have been.
The woman said that while it is common to occasionally find worms in vegetables like okra, this experience was completely different and a frightening one.
"It was very unexpected. Finding worms in fruits and vegetables is not unusual. Perhaps there was a hole in the bottom of the capsicum through which it got inside. Still, it was a terrifying experience," she explained.
