MULTAN: Pakistan scored a massive total in the first Cricket Test against England. Batting first, the hosts scored 556 runs in the first innings and were all out. Captain Shan Masood (151), opener Abdullah Shafique and Salman Ali Agha(104) also scored centuries. Saud Shakeel scored 82 runs and shone with the bat. England who came for reply batting, were 96 for the loss of one wicket at stumps on the second day. Captain Ollie Pope was dismissed with a duck. Joe Root (32*) and Zak Crawley (64*) were at the crease.
Resuming the day's play at 328 for four, Pakistan added another 228 runs after losing the last six wickets on the second day. Naseem Shah (33), who came in as a night watchman, was the first to be dismissed. Wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed for zero. Agha Salman remained unbeaten on 104 off 119 balls with the help of 10 fours and three sixes. Shaheen Shah Afridi was dismissed for 26.
For England, Jack Leach took three wickets. Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse took two wickets each while Chris Woakes, Shoaib Bashir and Joe Root took one wicket each. England who came for reply batting, lost their first wicket in the second over. Captain Ollie Pope was caught by Amir Jamal off Naseem Shah's bowling. Crawley scored 64 runs off 64 balls with the help of 11 boundaries and is still in the crease.
