MUMBAI: BCCI boycotts Asian Cricket Council meeting in Dhaka. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced that it will boycott the annual general meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to be held in Dhaka on July 24. The BCCI had requested several times to change the venue due to the current political situation in Bangladesh. However, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), led by Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has not yet responded to the BCCI's request. Following this, the BCCI announced that it will boycott the meeting.

The BCCI has also made it clear that it will not accept any decisions taken without its presence if the meeting is held in Dhaka. Reports suggest that the Asia Cup Twenty20 tournament, in which six countries, including India and Pakistan, are participating, will be affected by the BCCI's boycott. The last Asia Cup was held in Sri Lanka in 2023. India is the reigning champion of the tournament. It is indicated that the venue of the Council meeting and the Asia Cup will change in view of the current tensions. The tournament is scheduled from September 5 to 21.

The BCCI has clarified that ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi's insistence on holding the meeting in Dhaka is unnecessary and that the Asia Cup will only be held if the council meeting is shifted from Dhaka. The BCCI's decision comes amid reports that India is likely to boycott the Emerging Women's Asia Cup due to border tensions with Pakistan.
