BRISBANE: The fifth and final cricket match of the series at the Gabba in Brisbane was abandoned due to rain, which resulted in India winning the series against Australia 2-1. The match was interrupted due to lightning after just 4.5 overs. Later, heavy rain prevented play from restarting, and the umpires decided to abandon the match after waiting for more than two hours.

Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill put on a 50-run stand. Abhishek scored 23 runs off 13 balls, and Gill scored 29 runs off 16 balls. The two were setting in nicely when rain spoiled the game.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma also became the fastest batsman to score 1000 runs in the T20 format (528 balls). Abhishek's achievement broke the record of captain Suryakumar Yadav (573). Shubman Gill gave a brilliant performance with four boundaries in an over. This is the fifth consecutive T20 series win for India under the leadership of captain Suryakumar Yadav and head coach Gautam Gambhir. Abhishek Sharma was declared the Player of the Series.
