CHENNAI: Ending weeks of speculation, Malayali cricket superstar Sanju V Samson joined IPL team Chennai Super Kings. Former Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju moved to Chennai through IPL trading. Chennai Super Kings traded former captain Ravindra Jadeja and English all-rounder Sam Curran to Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Sanju. The procedures for the transfer have been completed.
Reports circulated that Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians were also interested in signing Sanju. The Kerala player had asked Rajasthan last season to release him as he preferred a change in his career. Rajasthan had been demanding Ravindra Jadeja and South African youngster Dewald Brevis in exchange for Sanju Samson. However, Chennai was not ready to let Brevis go. With this, the deal was finalised for Sam Curran. Rajasthan and Chennai confirmed the deal two days ago.
Sanju Samson entered the IPL through the Kolkata Knight Riders but did not play a single match for them. Later, he went to Rajasthan Royals and created a sensation with his bat during his nascent years. During the two-year break when Rajasthan was banned, Sanju appeared for Delhi. From there, he returned to Rajasthan and became the captain of the team. Under Sanju's captaincy, Rajasthan Royals reached the final in one season.
