India-Bangladesh match abandoned due to rain: OZ challenge awaits Women in Blue in semis

NAVI MUMBAI: The final group match of the Women's World Cup was abandoned due to rain. Heavy rain started after 8.4 overs of India's innings. This is why the match could not be continued and it was decided to abandon it. Bangladesh scored 119 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the match, which was reduced to 27 overs. India's target for victory was revised to 126 runs according to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method.

Rain arrived when India were 57 for no loss in 8.4 overs. Smriti Mandhana 34* (27) and Amanjot Kaur 15* (25) were at the crease. Amanjot came in as the opener after Indian opener Pratika Rawal twisted her ankle while fielding earlier. The Indian camp is hoping that the player will return to full fitness before the semi-finals.

It's time for the semi-finals of the World Cup. Australia, England, South Africa and India have finished in the top four places and have reached the semi-finals. In the first semi-final, England and South Africa will face each other on October 29 in Guwahati. In the second semi-final, India will face a strong Australia. This match will be held in Navi Mumbai on October 30. India had lost to all three teams that entered the semi-finals in the group stage.

Bangladesh, who started batting after losing the toss, lost the wickets of openers Sumaiya Akhtar 2(6) and Rubia Haider 13(32) fast. Sharmeen Akhtar 36(53), who came to the crease third, was the top scorer for Bangladesh. Captain Nigar Sultana 9(24) and Sobhana Mostary scored 26(21) runs each. Shorna Akhter 2(3), Nahida Akhter 3(5), Rabeya Khan 3(5) and Ritu Moni 11(7) were dismissed quickly.

Marufa Akhter 2*(1) and Nishita Akhter 4*(5) remained unbeaten. Radha Yadav was the star bowler for India with three wickets. Sree Charani took two wickets while Deepti Sharma, Renuka Thakur, and Amanjot Kaur chipped in with a wicket each.
