India suffers setback before Pakistan clash; spin all-rounder Axar Patel suffers head injury 

ABU DHABI: India's star all-rounder Axar Patel suffered a head injury during the Asia Cup match against Oman. The incident occurred while fielding in the match. India has suffered a major setback with Axar Patel's injury as they are preparing for the crucial second match against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super Four.

Axar was injured in the 15th over of Oman's innings while trying to block a shot to mid-off by Hammad Mirza off Shivam Dube. The player fell to the ground and hit his head while trying to catch the ball. Axar, who immediately sought medical attention, did not take to the field later. He bowled only one over in the match and conceded only four runs.

However, Axar, who came in to bat at number five, scored 26 runs off 13 balls. His performance was crucial in raising India's score in the middle order. Axar's brilliant innings included three fours and a six. Although Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube are in the team, Axar is the only spin all-rounder.

If Axar is unable to play due to injury, India will have to rely solely on spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy. Otherwise, an additional pacer may be included in the team. The team is worried that the absence of Axar will significantly affect India's chances on the spinner-friendly pitch in Dubai. Washington Sundar is likely to be included in the team in an emergency. Otherwise, temporary spinners like Abhishek Sharma will have to be tried.

Meanwhile, India's fielding coach T Dilip has said that Axar's injury is not serious and he is recovering quickly. However, with less than 48 hours left for the match against Pakistan, Axar's fitness is a concern for the team management.
