Chasing a target of 193, Kolkata Knight Riders managed to score only 160 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. None of their batters could convert starts into big scores. After five matches, Kolkata are still without a win, with only one point from an abandoned match against Punjab.
Finn Allen fell early for 1(3). Sunil Narine scored 24(17), captain Ajinkya Rahane made 28(22), and Angkrish Raghuvanshi added 27(19), but none could carry on. Rinku Singh scored 6(12), while Cameron Green was out for 0(1). Ramandeep Singh top-scored with 35(24), while Rovman Powell remained unbeaten on 31(22).
For Chennai, Noor Ahmad was the standout bowler with three wickets.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings posted 192/5 in 20 overs. Malayali batter Sanju Samson was the top scorer with 48(32), falling just two runs short of a half-century. Ayush Mhatre scored 38(17), Dewald Brevis made 41(29), and Sarfaraz Khan added 23(18). Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed early for 7(6). Mhatre and Samson put on a quick partnership, followed by a 39-run stand between Samson and Brevis.
For Kolkata, Kartik Tyagi took two wickets, while Vaibhav Arora, Anukul Roy, and Sunil Narine picked up one wicket each.
